Work Party

January 20, 2001 Continuation of the Ivy Removal Project near Waterfall

We continued our work focusing on the Westside of the waterfall. On the left is the "before picture" showing the ivy covered area  before 9am. By about 11:30 am we had hauled away several tarp loads of clematis and ivy and had covered the slope with jute to protect the soil. We will be planting Northwest native plants such as Snowberry and Ferns so it will resemble the Eastern slope  - as result of our Dec work party and additional planting work done by Garfield High School students.  Join us at our next work party on Feb. 17th from 9:00 - 12pm at the waterfall (which is on Lake Washington Blvd. a little over half way into the park.).
